Alcohol suspected in fatal accident in Visalia

The Fresno BeeFebruary 17, 2014

One man is dead and another was hospitalized from a car accident in Visalia early Monday morning, Visalia police reported.

Miguel Farfan, 27, was driving a Chevy Silverado northbound on Akers Street just north of Ferguson Avenue when he struck the concrete center divider and then an oak tree on the side of the road before coming to a stop. Farfan was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Farfan's passenger, Curtis Witte, 42, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Both Farfan and Witte were wearing seat belts, police said. No other vehicles were involved. Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the accident.
