Fresno woman killed in Jensen Avenue crash

The Fresno BeeFebruary 14, 2014

One man was arrested Thursday night after a fatal collision on Jensen Avenue east of Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash took place as George Bruhin, 26, of Sanger was westbound on Jensen driving about 55 mph. The CHP said a 33-year-old Fresno woman in a 2013 Jeep was southbound on Temperance Avenue and had stopped at the intersection with Jensen.

Another car was in front of Bruhin's 1985 Ford and after it passed the Temperance intersection, the Jeep driver drove in front of Bruhin, who was unable to stop, although he applied his brakes.

The Fresno woman, identified Friday as Roberta Sanchez, died at the scene. A 16-year-old girl in her car suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

The CHP said Bruhin was arrested because he was under the influence of a controlled substance, which officers did not identify in the report.
