A 24-year-old Southern California man is behind bars after eight pounds of methamphetamine -- worth an estimated $363,000 -- was found hidden in his car Monday night in Madera County, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.
The man was booked into Madera County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting a controlled substance, driving without a license, and two warrants -- one issued out of San Bernardino, and the other from Los Angeles. He remains jailed without bail, sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said Tuesday.
The man was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol Monday night while driving north on Highway 99. Agents with the Madera Narcotic Task Force were also called to the scene.
The case remains under investigation.
