Fresno gas prices relatively stable, AAA says

The Fresno BeeFebruary 11, 2014

Gas prices rose 2 cents over the last month in Fresno and in the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area, according to AAA of Northern California.

The agency released its monthly gas price report Tuesday.

The average cost of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Fresno was $3.60. In the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area, it was $3.58.

Statewide, prices rose 1 cent to $3.65. Nationally, gas costs an average of $3.31.

The relatively flat prices are a change from years past, according to AAA. California's average gas price was 40 cents higher a year ago at this time.

AAA attributed the change to cold temperatures keeping drivers off the roads nationwide, and a lack of refinery or production concerns -- including in the Middle East -- that pushed prices higher in years past.
