A two-alarm fire Monday at the Fig Garden Villa Senior Community in central Fresno caused $10,000 in damages, Fresno fire spokesman Keola Park said.
Firefighters responded to an alarm about 4 p.m. at 1544 E. Fedora Ave. Park said the fire started in a laundry room on the top floor of the three-story building. There was no sprinkler system in that part of the building, and five units were without power after the fire.
The residents of those units were relocated within the facility.
Two patients were treated for smoke inhalation but refused to be transported to the hospital.
Though the cause of the fire is still unknown, Park said the lint trap in the laundry dryer was extremely full and could possibly start a fire of the same kind.
