Fresno City College was without two key players, but it didn't stop the state No. 3 Rams from pulling away for an 85-64 Central Valley Conference women's basketball victory over West Hills-Lemoore.
The Golden Eagles scored the first seven points and led until Keyora Wharry's layup with 11 minutes left in the first half put the Rams up 15-13.
Fresno City (23-8, 8-1), playing without Dominique Pilkinton (eye) and Diana Corona (foot), but led 47-29 by halftime. Wharry finished with 27 points and 19 rebounds.
Kalie Parker had 13 points and nine rebounds for West Hills (13-12, 4-5).
• Hannah Ramirez scored 13 points in Sequoias' 54-40 win over Reedley, which was led by Dahlia Lopez’ 17 points. The Giants improve to 20-6 and 7-2. The Tigers fall to 2-20 and 1-8.
Rams men beat Pirates
Behind 14 points and nine rebounds from Kyle Ingram, state No. 2 Fresno City College rolled to a 60-51 CVC men's basketball win over Porterville.
The Rams (24-2, 7-1) led by as many as 16. Adam Armstead's 14 paced the Pirates (7-15, 1-7).
• Reedley overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to force two overtimes before falling 59-58 at Columbia. Andre Frazier had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (11-11, 5-4). The Claim Jumpers (11-13, 4-5) got 12 points from Marcus Junior.
