Covered California announced Thursday it would discontinue posting a provider directory on its website until further notice.
Errors have been found in physician lists, the state health benefit exchange said.
Some enrollees in health plans located doctors on the provider list who they thought were in their plans but discovered later they were not, the agency said.
Enrollees who selected a Covered California plan based on the provider directory on the exchange website at www.CoveredCa.com should contact the health insurance plan to verify the provider is in the network.
If the provider is not in the plan's directory, enrollees can ask for a different provider in their area, Covered California said. The plans will work with enrollees to resolve these situations on a case-by-case basis, the agency said.
If enrollees are dissatisfied with the resolution, they can contact Covered California's Service Center to cancel enrollment in their plan, and enroll in a different plan before open enrollment ends on March 31.
Covered California said it will support consumers by supplying links to each health insurance plan's provider directory. Consumers can link to specific plan directories by clicking on "View Directory" while previewing plans.
