Valley K-12, college leaders talk student success at summit

The Fresno BeeFebruary 6, 2014

Helping Valley youth succeed in school is the topic of an education summit at Fresno City College Thursday.

Education and business leaders are meeting at the event organized by State Center Community College District to talk about creating better relationships between K-12 and higher education.

Local education officials such as Fresno county schools superintendent Jim Yovino and State Center Chancellor Deborah Blue are leading the event's panel discussion.

Thursday's event follows one held Tuesday during which more than 100 participants talked about how to better make career-oriented education a priority. A goal is to provide career training in high school so graduates can step into jobs.
