Fresno Pacific's women's basketball team now has its longest conference winning streak since 2002, picking up its sixth straight Wednesday with an 87-71 victory over visiting Notre Dame de Namur.
Patrice Saindon had 21 points and five assists for the Sunbirds (9-11, 9-5 PacWest), who shot 50% from the field and outscored the Argos in bench points 33-12.
The Argos fell to 4-15 and 3-10.
• Trevon Clayton's dunk with 49 seconds left gave Fresno Pacific a seven-point lead and the Sunbirds held on for their fifth straight PacWest men's basketball victory, 73-70 over Notre Dame de Namur. Malcolm Griffin led Fresno Pacific (10-12, 5-9) with 18 points and nine assists. The Argos are 6-13 and 5-8.
Sunbirds win back-to-back matches in tennis
Fresno Pacific was down after doubles for a second straight day but again took charge in singles, blowing past host Sonoma State 6-3 in a nonconference men's tennis match in Rohnert Park.
Michael Tymkiw at No. 1 and Kyle Rowe, Leonardo Urguidi, Brendan Aguilar and Stefan Loop at Nos. 3-6 won in straight sets for the NCAA Division II No. 13 Sunbirds (2-1), who trailed 2-1 Tuesday before beating Holy Names 7-2 in a PacWest opener.
Loop beat Vincent Paganetti (Clovis West) 6-2, 6-1.
