Just call it a soccer takeover in Fresno.
The Fuego have scheduled another exhibition match against a team of aspiring MLS players, hosting the new Los Angeles Galaxy II at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Chukchansi Park -- two days before the Fuego plays the San Jose Earthquakes reserves as part of the Central Valley Cup on Feb. 15 that will feature the full Galaxy and Earthquakes sides at the downtown Fresno stadium.
"This match against the LA Galaxy II is a prime opportunity for our local past and present players with the Fresno Fuego to perform in front of LA Galaxy staff," Fuego General Manager Jeremy Schultz said. "Between this Thursday exhibition and the Saturday Central California Cup, we're working toward a three-day soccer takeover in the Central Valley."
The recently announced LA Galaxy II -- which will play in the United Soccer Leagues' Professional Division -- will include Galaxy first-team players, Galaxy Academy players and players signed by the LA Galaxy II.
The exhibition will mark the Fuego's 2014 debut and will feature notable alumni Milton Blanco, Jose Cuevas and Paul Islas returning to play for the Premier Developmental League team.
Tickets are available at www.ticketreturn.com, at the Chukchansi Park box office or by calling (559) 320-8497. All tickets, except Cru Club, will be general admission and priced at $6. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and parking will be $5.
