Work crews will be closing alternating lanes of southbound Highway 99 near Fresno's Herndon Avenue for five nights this week as they restripe the freeway.
The nighttime closures will begin at 7 p.m each evening starting Monday and continuing through next Friday. The work is part of the state's Herndon Avenue interchange improvement project. No lanes are expected to be affected during the daytime, including morning and evening commute hours.
The highway will remain open at all times, but some lanes will be closed, creating possible congestion. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, pay attention to merging signs and to seek alternate routes or avoid the area during the nighttime construction work.
