Sanger High's Luis Ortiz, Clovis' Jake Gatewood and Buchanan's Trenton Kemp have made the CBS MaxPreps 2014 Preseason All-America Baseball Team.
In addition, they're ranked among the nation's top professional prospects for the high school Class of 2014 by Perfect Game, the country's largest independent scouting service for baseball.
The right-handed Ortiz is one of 10 pitchers on the MaxPreps 30-player All-America team. He is ranked as the nation's eighth-best pro prospect among prep seniors for all positions by Perfect Game.
Gatewood, who has pitched and played outfield and shortstop for the Cougars, is one of six infielders on the MaxPreps team. He is ranked No. 9 in the nation by Perfect Game.
Kemp is one of six outfielders listed by MaxPreps. He is ranked No. 40 nationally by Perfect Game.
Ortiz (Fresno State), Gatewood (USC) and Kemp (Fresno State) have made non-binding college commitments.
Never has the Central Section had three high school prospects rated as highly in one year since the first Major League Baseball amateur draft in 1965.
Ortiz, Gatewood and Kemp are among six Californians on the MaxPreps All-America Team. They include another Fresno State commit, Westlake-Westlake Village infielder Luke Dykstra, son of former pro Lenny Dykstra.
