Four men are in custody after a DEA agent working undercover was threatened with a handgun during an apparent robbery attempt, Visalia police say.
The incident took place Thursday about 5:40 p.m. when the agent met with a man identified as Ronald Ditlevson, 33, with whom he had made purchases before, police said. Police said Miguel Villegas, 21, and Gustavo Jesus Mendoza, 22, approached the agent's car with a handgun. The agent drove away and a surveillance team followed Ditlevson's vehicle after he picked up Villegas and Mendoza, police said. The three, along with Joel Serrato, 24, were arrested and a .45 caliber handgun was seized.
Ditlevson was taken into federal custody and the other three were booked into Tulare County Jail on attempted robbery and other charges.
