A submachine gun, $25,000 in Ecstasy and other drugs and contraband was recovered Thursday when a man was taken into custody in central Fresno, police report.
Sgt. Bob Reynolds said officers from the Violent Crime Impact Team made the arrest after seeing a car driving with its lights out in the 1500 block of East Yale Avenue. Reynolds said the driver, Larry Ross, 31, was on probation for drug possession and being a gang member. When they searched his car, they discovered the Mac 11 with a noise suppressor. In the trunk, they discovered Ecstasy, crack cocaine and methamphetamine.
Officers then went to the apartment of Ross' girlfriend in southwest Fresno , where they found a 9 mm Smith and Wesson semiautomatic pistol during a probation search. During another search and Ross' apartment and another location, they found Ecstasy valued by police at $25,000 along with cocaine and marijuana.
