A 21-year-old man was stabbed with a machete early Saturday morning while leaving a bar in Fresno's Tower District, Fresno Police Lt. Joe Gomez said.
Police were dispatched shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday and found the injured man lying in a parking lot on the west side of Dollar Tree, 917 E. Olive Ave., bleeding profusely from a deep laceration in his left forearm, Gomez said.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was in stable condition at Community Regional Medical Center early Saturday morning, and his injury is not life-threatening, Gomez said.
The victim told police he had been walking with two friends from a bar south of Olive Avenue, headed northbound through the Dollar Tree parking lot, when they were confronted by four Asian males in a parked gray BMW near the Chicken Pie Shop.
The four males reportedly challenged the victim and his friends to fight, and then physically attacked them. During the fight, one of the suspects allegedly retrieved a machete from the BMW and stabbed the victim in the arm. After the stabbing, the suspects drove away in the BMW, headed eastbound on Olive Avenue. Police have not located the car.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
