Burrell district gets grant for science field trips

The Fresno BeeJanuary 24, 2014

Burrel Union Elementary School District was awarded a Bright Ideas grant through Pacific Gas & Electric that will fund two science field trips for the entire student body.

The grant will pay for all Burrel students to tour the Friant Dam and three solar farms to learn about various renewable energy resources as well as educational and career opportunities in the field of solar and hydroelectricity.

As part of the project, teachers will also receive additional professional development and purchase new science, technology, engineering and math materials.

These items will prepare students and teachers for the field trips and also help the school comply with the new Common Core Standards.
