TV briefs: 'The Girl He Met Online'

Web episode: "The Girl He Met Online" will premiere at 8 p.m. Feb. 8 on Lifetime. Starring Yvonne Zima ("Iron Man 3"), as 23-year-old Gillian a smart, socially adept and gorgeous woman who is borderline bipolar and more violent by the day.

At the core of Gillian's problem is men. Her possessiveness and swings drive men off and when the romance fades, Gillian retaliates with anger — against them, and her adoptive mother, Agatha, played by Mary Margaret Humes ("Dawson's Creek"). When Gillian meets Andy (Shawn Roberts), her newest online target, she thinks he could be her one true love, until things go too far and Andy suspects her in his sister's death.

Reality check: Two reality series — "Barber Battle," "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" — will debut later this year on the CW.

"Barber Battle," hosted by Cedric the Entertainer," will visit different barbershops across the country in each of the 10 episodes. The most talented barbers from the Bronx to the 'burbs will compete with their clippers to showcase their artistic designs and be crowned the creator of the best "crowns" in town.

On each of the nine episodes of "Fool Us," aspiring magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try to fool the world-famous team of Penn & Teller. Anyone who succeeds wins the right to perform with them at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The live studio audience and the TV audience watch along with Penn & Teller as they try to figure out the secrets.

Meow mix: Hallmark Channel's first annual "Kitten Bowl" airs at noon Feb. 2. The Hallmark Channel special event is a feline cats-travaganza presented in association with North Shore Animal League America (the nation's largest no-kill shelter and animal adoption organization) and Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation.

They are being joined by an all-star array of celebrities including Regis Philbin, Rachael Ray, Hoda Kotb, Lisa Vanderpump, Rocco DiSpirito, Nicky Hilton, Bob Harper, Renee Herlocker, Carrie Ann Inaba, Kelly Rutherford and many more.
