Ex-Grizzly Linden gets coaching job
Todd Linden, a star outfielder in two stints with the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies and the franchise's career leader in nearly every offensive category, is the new co-hitting coach of the San Francisco Giants' Class-A team in Augusta, Ga.
Linden, 33, a first-round draft pick by San Francisco in the 2001 out of Louisiana State, returned to the Grizzlies for the 2012 and 2013 seasons after being away from the Giants organization for four years.
Last season, in an injury-plagued year, he hit .204 in 137 at-bats for Fresno. In 2012, he hit .280, slugged .449 and had a .368 on-base percentage.
Linden played 989 minor league games with the Giants, Florida, Cleveland, Oakland and New York Yankees organizations and in one year of independent ball. Linden saw action in 270 major league games in parts of five seasons with the Giants and Marlins.
