Forum set on state funding for Fresno Unified

Reading and Beyond is hosting a public forum Thursday to discuss the state's new public education spending formula.

Fresno Unified School District officials will present their plan to use about $29 million extra state dollars at the meeting, said district spokeswoman Susan Bedi.

Under the new Local Control Funding Formula passed into law in 2013, school districts with high numbers of low-income and English language learners get more money from the state.

The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mosqueda Community Center, 4670 E. Butler Ave., Fresno.
