Madera County sheriff's deputies are looking for two bogus roofers who made off with a 101-year-old man's safe Saturday in Chowchilla.
Spokeswoman Erica Stuart said the man was at home about 3:30 p.m. when the two Hispanic men in their 30s or 40s went to the home on Robertson Boulevard. They told the victim that they had come to fix his roof.
While one of the crooks talked to the victim, the second wandered through the home. The pair left a short time later and the victim noticed his safe was gone. It was found about an hour later near Road 33 and Avenue 7, about 29 miles away. Stuart said it had been opened.
Anyone with information is asked to call deputies at (559) 675-7770.
