New arrivals

"Dark Wolf: a Carpathian Novel" by Christine Feehan. Previously needing to guard half of his soul, Skyler must protect Carpathian Dimitri after he is singled out for execution by the Lycans, in the second novel of the Carpathian trilogy following "Dark Lycan."

"Fear Nothing: a Novel" by Lisa Gardner. Badly hurt after blundering onto a crime scene she cannot recall, Boston detective D. D. Warren hears about a second murder with the same properties only to find out that she is being individually pursued by the killer.

"Robert B. Parker's Bull River" by Robert Knott. A fitness expert and trainer from "The Biggest Loser," Quince introduces the "3-1-2-1" diet, which permits food "cheat days" when nothing is forbidden and combines this diet with physical activities.

"Gluten-Free Girl Every Day" by Shauna James Ahern with Daniel Ahern. The author of "Gluten-Free Girl and the Chef" has written a cookbook for active people that concentrates on gluten-free living, offering sensible tips for buying food and baking without gluten while recommending an assortment of choices.

"The Fat Chance Cookbook: More Than 100 Recipes Ready in Under 30 Minutes to Help You Lose the Sugar and the Weight" by Robert H. Lustig, M.D. with Heather Miller. This companion cookbook to the New York Times best-seller includes more than 100 recipes that help to significantly lower sugar and boost fiber to promote weight loss and recover health.

Mystery Book Club: Explore the world of mystery.

This month's selection is "Hunter's Moon" by Randy Wayne White. This is a "Doc Ford" mystery set in Florida/Central America, 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Clovis Library. Details: 260-7516.

Jazz at the Library: Jazz Fresno presents musical evenings featuring different topics in jazz, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Woodward Park Library. Details: 600-6226.

Crafting & Sewing Group: A creative outlet in our community to meet new people and share all our unique ideas and learn of upcoming craft events. Bring your own craft item to work on, 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Caruthers Library. Details: 864-8766.

One-on-One Computer Help: One-on-One computer classes for complete beginners or computer users in need of a little help! Subjects covered include: using a mouse, Internet basics, setting up an e-mail account and basic word processing.
