Five more Sanger residents were arrested Friday following a one-month investigation into a witness intimidation and illegal drugs case.
Arrested were: Crystal Garcia, 31; Eduardo Garcia, 24; Chantel Garcia, 28; Louie Hernandez, 49; and Anthony Ray Tapia, 37.
The case is related to witness intimidation involving Fresno County Superior Court clerk Christina Lugo.
She was allegedly assisting inmate Ricky Modesto, 31, while he was in Fresno County Jail, in threatening a victim to keep him from testifying against Modesto. Lugo, Modesto and three others were arrested three weeks ago in the same case.
Modesto was arrested in November 2012 after allegedly assaulting a man at a Sanger bar. The victim suffered a broken jaw and lost several teeth. After his arrest, Modesto bailed out of jail and then failed to show up for court.
On Thursday, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Faller Avenue in Sanger. They found illegal drugs, ammunition and a bulletproof vest and arrested the second group in connection to the case.
