Three people from Madera were arrested Thursday thanks to a citizen's tip about a home burglary, the Madera County Sheriff's Department said.
The incident began shortly after 1 p.m. when a deputy was flagged down near Avenue 13-1/2 and Road 24-1/2 by a citizen who said he just witnessed what appeared to be a burglary, said spokeswoman Erica Stuart. The trio burglarized a home on Westberry Boulevard, Stuart said.
The detective caught up with the car thanks to the citizen's description. But when the detective attempted to pull the car over, the driver took off, leading the officer on an eight-mile pursuit.
During the chase, one man, 27, jumped from the vehicle and ran into a vineyard, where he was arrested. He is being held on burglary and weapons charges, Stuart said.
When the vehicle finally pulled over, deputies took the other two people -- a man and a woman -- into custody.
The woman, 35, was wanted on a drug warrant. The man, 24, was arrested on burglary charges and felony evading, Stuart said.
