More than 30 passengers sustained minor injuries late Monday night when a bus collided with the back of a big rig on Highway 99 in Tulare, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Fronteras Del Norte bus, driven by Isais Ortiz, 60, was going from Los Angeles to Yakima, Wash., when it ran into the back of a Freightliner driven by Eleno Cuevas, 64, of Arvin just before midnight.

The CHP said 15 passengers were taken to a local hospital. Another 17 refused treatment. Ortiz sought his own treatment and Cuevas was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
