Tulare hospital hires management company

The board of directors of Tulare Regional Medical Center announced Friday that a management company has been hired to run the hospital starting next week.

Current CEO Shawn Bolouki's contract has been terminated.

HealthCare Conglomerate Associates LLC, based in Los Angeles, will take over next week, the announcement said. Tony Jones, an executive with the company, is relocating from the East Coast and starts Tuesday.

The board unanimously approved the contract Thursday, but no reason was given for the change. Tulare Regional has struggled with lower revenues, fewer patients, wage cuts and the halt of construction of a new hospital tower when concrete started to delaminate.

The announcement credited Bolouki with resolving the concrete delamination problem, opening the West Street Health Center, getting a $500,000 grant to open a clinic in Earlimart, and cutting expenses, the announcement said.

An appreciation reception for Bolouki will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Evolutions Plaza conference room. He served as CEO from 2008 to spring 2012, and from December 2012 until Friday.
