FresnoJanuary 8, 2014

A 65-year-old woman suffered major injuries when she was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon in Porterville, police said.

A 21-year-old man was preparing to drive onto West Henderson Avenue from a parking lot at 3:19 p.m. in the 1200 block and did not see the woman walking on the sidewalk, police said.
When the driver began his turn, police said, he hit the woman.
She was airlifted to a Fresno area hospital for treatment. Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
