A man was shot in the chest with a shotgun in central Fresno on Wednesday and is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital, said Fresno Police Lt. Herman Silva.
The shooting, involving two Hispanic men in their 30s, happened about 2 p.m. at North Fresno Street and East Washington Avenue behind Best Fresno Supermarket, Silva said.
The suspected shooter was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after police tracked him to a home where he was hiding on the 2500 block of East Lamona Avenue.
Silva said a motive for the shooting is not yet known, but it appears there was a prior disagreement between the suspect and victim.
