The Paramount Education Programs Team recently announced the winning recipients of its 2013-2014 School Grants Program. Among the winners were 33 schools from Fresno County, with the awards totaling nearly $100,000.

Most of this year's grants were in the amounts of $3,000 and $4,000. This year, the farming company also awarded four $10,000 grants. One of those $10,000 grants went to Lincoln Elementary School in Sanger.

The school will use the funds to increase student and adult literacy and English language through the use of technology, online programs, and a book club.

This year's PEP School Grants program received more than 400 applications, resulting in 167 awarded grants. Since the program's inception in 1997, Paramount has awarded more than 1,000 school grants to 49 schools, totaling nearly $3 million and affecting more than 35,200 students throughout the Central Valley.
