Fresno State student hurt in robbery try in front of campus

A 28-year-old California State University, Fresno student sustained a broken leg Wednesday attempting to escape an armed robber in front of the campus, police reported. The robbery happened about noon.

Lt. Donald Gross said the victim was walking west on the north side of Shaw Avenue when he was confronted by the suspect, who pulled up his shirt and showed a weapon.

The student turned and ran into Shaw, where he was hit by a vehicle. The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. The suspect did not get anything.
