Construction closes Highway 99 offramp to Herndon Ave.

The Fresno BeeJanuary 8, 2014

An earlier version of this story stated incorrectly that closure of the southbound offramp from Highway 99 to Herndon Avenue was part of a $68 million state roadwork project from Grantland Avenue in Fresno County to Avenue 7 in Madera County. The closure is a separate improvement project as a result of developer improvements just east of Golden State Boulevard, according to Caltrans.

The southbound offramp from Highway 99 to Herndon is closed because of major construction and will remain so until early February, the California Highway Patrol said.

In addition, the highway's northbound offramp to Herndon Avenue will be closed until 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Alternating lane closures for striping on southbound Highway 99 in Fresno near the Herndon Avenue interchange will start Thursday night, Caltrans said.

Closures will take place Thursday night at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday morning. Closures will resume Monday at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Caltrans said there could be traffic congestion during the work and suggested drivers take detours. There will be signage to warn drivers when to change lanes.
