The Fresno BeeJanuary 8, 2014

One driver was killed and a second sustained major injuries in a head-on of two pickup trucks south of Kerman on Tuesday night.

The crash took place just before 6 p.m. The California Highway Patrol said Uriel Averciano Perez, 31, of Caruthers was eastbound on Lincoln Avenue, west of Bishop Avenue, in a 2000 Ford F-150 and a 54-year-old Kerman man was westbound on Lincoln Avenue in a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado.

The CHP said Perez crossed the center line and slammed into the Chevrolet. Maria T. Sandoval, 31, of Kerman, who was driving behind the Chevrolet in a 2003 Honda Accord, ran into that truck.

Perez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was airlifted to CRMC but died of his injuries. He has not been identified. Sandoval was not hurt.
