Fire damages Visalia flower shop

A Monday morning fire caused major damage to a Visalia flower shop, and minor damage to adjacent businesses, the Visalia fire Department said.

The fire broke out about 11 a.m. at Marilix Flowers, 1323 E. Houston Ave. Firefighters from the Visalia and Tulare County fire departments found heavy smoke inside the business.

The fire was contained in 30 minutes. It caused major damage to Marilix and minor damage to three adjacent businesses -- Domino's Pizza, Taqueria Don Taco and One Stop Mini-Mart.

Total estimated damage is $200,000. The cause is still under investigation.
