4 displaced when fire chars southwest Fresno home

The Fresno BeeDecember 29, 2013

A Sunday morning house fire in southwest Fresno has displaced three adults and a juvenile, the Fresno Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded to a chimney fire at 2374 S. Kirk Ave., west of Highway 41, around 6:42 a.m. The first crews to arrive found a single-family house with a well-involved attic fire, said spokesman Larry French.

Three engines, two trucks, two battalion chiefs and one shop support brought the fire under control in less than 30 minutes. There was significant damage to the home -- especially the attic space and the roof, which were consumed by fire, French said.

The cause is under investigation.
