5 hurt in head-on crash on Manning Avenue near Caruthers

Five people were hospitalized after a head-on collision early Tuesday morning on Manning Avenue near Caruthers, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. between Hughes and West avenues. Initial reports were that an eastbound Chevrolet with two women aboard attempted to pass another vehicle and ran into a westbound Chevrolet with three men aboard.

All of the injured were taken to Community Regional Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
