Fresno State's Helping Hams surpasses goal

The Fresno BeeDecember 20, 2013

Fresno State's Helping Hams campaign collected about 195 hams, nearly double its goal, and distributed them Thursday to local organizations.

The campaign raised $5,300 and distributed hams in front of the Gibson Farm Market to the Bulldog Pantry, Community Food Bank, Poverello House, El Dorado Park Community, Department of Behavioral Health's Perinatal Program, Made For Them and College Assistance Migrant Program and Women's Resource Center Partners-in-Art Program.

President Joseph I. Castro and student body president Moses Menchaca launched the campaign Nov. 25. The campaign received two major donations on its first day, a $2,000 donation from RCO Ag Credit and a $1,000 donation from Patrick McKinney, facilities coordinator in the University Courtyard residence halls on campus, on behalf of University Courtyard employees and residents.
