Poverello House in Fresno desperately needs toy donations

The Fresno BeeDecember 20, 2013

The Poverello House is reporting that toy donations are at a critically low level.

The Fresno agency that assists needy people and their families needs to toys for children up to age 16.

Poverello House officials say that 2013 has been especially difficult and the need is greater this year than in recent years.

Toys will be accepted until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

"It has been tough all around for everyone and I think this is no different than what we saw with turkeys in November," said Kathryn Weakland, spokeswoman for Poverello House.

The agency also will take cash donations for toys as long as the donor specifies it's for toys, she said. Staff members will shop Monday for toys, she said.
