In-N-Out fans in Hanford got an early Christmas present -- the long-awaited burger joint opened Thursday.

A handful of people lined up early Thursday morning at the fast food restaurant, which is at 280 S. 12th St. near Highway 198.

Fans of In-N-Out campaigned for the restaurant to come to Hanford for years. The "Bring In-N-Out to Hanford" Facebook page has more than 9,000 fans, and thousands signed a petition encouraging the chain to open a location there.

The restaurant employs 50 people at a starting wage of $10.50 an hour. It has a drive-thru and seats 77 people. It is open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. most days, and until 1:30 a.m. on weekends.
