Political notebook: Oops! Amanda Renteria's FEC filing accidentally lists anti-Renteria website

Amanda Renteria

Congressional hopeful Amanda Renteria’s campaign team made an embarrassing mistake in her Federal Election Commission Statement of Organization, and now a website and opposition Republicans are having some fun with the faux pas.

Renteria, a Sanger Democrat who is challenging incumbent Republican David Valadao in the 21st Congressional District, has “renteria4congress.com” as her campaign committee’s webpage.

That’s the web address of an anti-Renteria website put up by the National Republican Congressional Committee. Right below Renteria’s picture, it calls her “the epitome of a Washington insider” and then urges people to “sign up to stop Amanda Renteria.”

The real Renteria website is “amandarenteria.com.” That website urges people instead to “Join Amanda.”

“The person responsible for drafting the statement made an inadvertent error,” Renteria spokeswoman Emily Nowlin said in an email. “The filing has already been corrected.”

But not before Jacob Fischler blogged about it on Buzzfeed and the California Republican Party and others tweeted it with a link to the Buzzfeed blog.
