A Fresno woman who left Children's Hospital Central California with her sick child late Wednesday night and was sought by Fresno County Sheriff's deputies has been located in Bakersfield.

The sheriff's office announced at about 11:30 a.m. that Kendra Huffman made telephone contact with sheriff's detectives, and that Huffman's 2-month-old daughter, Rowan, was being evaluated at a medical facility.

The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing and no further details were available.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Sgt. Jeff Kertson at (559) 600-8144.

Huffman reportedly took Rowan to Children's hospital to treat a recent illness but left with the child for an unknown reason about 10 p.m. Wednesday. The sheriff's office put out word that it was looking for her because hospital staff was concerned about the child's welfare.
