Westside Rescue seeks donations for holiday homeless event

Westside Rescue is sponsoring a special Christmas event, including dinner, for the homeless in downtown Fresno on Saturday.

A warm meal featuring beans, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, dessert and warm beverages will be served at the Fresno Rescue Mission lot near Ventura and G streets.

Winter items including gloves, hats, sweatshirts, jackets will also be distributed to as many as possible. Westside Rescue will also provide dog and cat food, vaccines, ID tags and leashes to homeless people who have pets. Treats and small gifts will also be provided to children. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Winter items are still needed, including more sweatshirts, sweat pants, sleeping bags, heavy blankets, scarves, hats and gloves. All donations are tax-deductible and a receipt will be provided.
