A Southern California man who died Monday after his truck rolled back and crushed him while making a delivery at REI in northeast Fresno has been identified as Gilbert Acuna, the Fresno County Coroner's Office said.
Fresno police said Acuna, 52, of Rialto, was pinned between the loading dock and his truck at REI's River Park store just after 7 a.m. as the semi rolled backwards, crushing him. He was unable to escape and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The department's collision reconstruction unit was called to the scene and is investigating to determine what caused the truck to coast down the ramp on its own.
The Fresno County Coroner's Office said an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
