David White's Three-Point Stance: Ex-Bulldogs go Hollywood

The Fresno BeeDecember 8, 2013

San Francisco limped off the field a loser in September in Seattle. Beating the Seahawks at home on Sunday won't fully make up for that, but it would ease the 49ers' potential postseason journey.

1. Even Derek Carr's big brother David no-showed a Fresno State home game Saturday for the first time this season — but at least he's got a great reason. Carr is in Los Angeles to make his TV debut as a contributing analyst on the NFL Network on this morning's pregame show. Add Trent Dilfer on ESPN and Lorenzo Neal on Comcast Sports, and your Bulldogs have gone Hollywood.

2. The 49ers don't need to beat the Seahawks today to get some sort of payback; until they win in Seattle, winning at The Stick doesn't mean a thing. The 49ers need to win today because, if they can't catch the Saints or Panthers for the top wild-card seed, they travel to Seattle first thing in the divisional-round morning — and we can tell you that score right now.

3. Fresno State football fans glad to see Chris Petersen jump Boise State's ship, beware: The Mountain West's top shelf is watered down enough (see this year's BCS computer rankings). The Bulldogs need Boise State to be good for the greater good of the conference and its strength of schedule numbers. Because, someone's got to say it: Pat Hill on Line 3, anyone?
