A man found dead in a Visalia hotel was a doctor from Modesto working at a local hospital, Visalia police said Friday.

Dr. Ken Kimura, 77, was found dead about 8 a.m. Wednesday by the staff at America's Best Value Inn on Main Street in downtown Visalia, Sgt. Ozzie Dominguez said.

Police responded and saw no indication of foul play, and the Tulare County Coroner's Office ruled it a natural death, he said.

Kimura stayed at the hotel while working at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, police said.

In a statement, Dr. Mark Garfield, vice president of medical staff affairs at Kaweah Delta, said, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Kimura. Our hearts go out to all of his family, friends and those who worked beside him. We greatly appreciate all of his years of service to this community."
