The Central Valley Chapter of the Asian Real Estate Association is getting ready to welcome its new 2014 officers.

The group, which has more than 60 members, will be led by Crystal Togo-Ansay, broker associate with Real Living Diamond Realtors in Clovis.

She takes over for Mark Chu, broker at Big Realty in Fresno who served as president for the last two years.

Togo-Ansay, who has been in real estate since 2008, wants to continue the group's mission of working on sustainable homeownership in the Asian community.

That means getting loan and home-buying information to those who don't speak English and helping them understand the banking system, Togo-Ansay said.

"A lot of people have a distrust with banks," she said. "It's getting them to understand the banking system and finding ways to obtain financing."

The association holds membership events throughout the year. In 2014, the group will hold its annual homebuyer fair at Fresno City College and plans to bring a motivational real estate speaker to town.

"We had a great year this year, but I think everyone still needs a nice little kick as we move into 2014," Togo-Ansay said.

Other officers include: Ethel Groger, vice president; Lisa Sasaki, treasurer; Luke Slivkoff, secretary; Nicole Lerno-Sanders, sponsorship; Na Landseadal, event chair; Bert Golston, membership chair; Ross Geller, board member; and Sandy Darling, education chair.

The officers will be sworn in during a gala on Dec. 12 at Fort Washington Country Club.
