Couple caught in Clovis neighborhood sitting in stolen pickup

Fresno County sheriff's deputies arrested a man and a woman in Clovis early Monday morning after they were caught sitting in a parked stolen pickup.

The 22-year-old man from Fresno and the 19-year-old woman from Friant were found at 3 a.m. sitting in a black Chevrolet pickup in a neighborhood just north of Herndon Avenue and just east of Peach Avenue. When deputies approached the stolen vehicle, they recognized the man as a wanted suspect in a previous vehicle theft investigation, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said. The pickup was stolen from Fresno.

Deputies also found credit cards believed to be stolen, narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia and several shopping bags that contained recently purchased items.

The owner of the stolen truck confirmed that the shopping bags contained items bought with his stolen credit card.

The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, narcotics charges and outstanding warrants for burglary and possession of stolen property. The 19-year-old was arrested on charges of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
