Auto manufacturers alliance toots horn for Henry T. Perea

Posted by Jacob Rayburn on November 23, 2013

Assembly Member Henry T. Perea was named legislator of the year Friday by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers for his efforts to clean the air, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and his commitment to safer vehicles.

Perea wrote Assembly Bill 8, which provided an eight-year extension from 2016 to 2024 for pollution-fighting fees charged as part of vehicle registration.

"This measure advances programs like the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program and demonstrates California's commitment to and support for new auto technology," said Curt Augustine, director of policy and government affairs with Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. "Consumer acceptance of advanced technology vehicles requires a commitment from policymakers to make it easier to buy and drive them."
