Troops in Afghanistan showed their gratitude to a Fresno Netafim USA employee, Michael Giese, after he organized community efforts and compiled a 350-pound care package for troops.
Giese led a company-wide effort at Netafim, an irrigation manufacturer, in putting together care packages of popular snacks, healthcare supplies, books and magazines, sporting goods and notebooks. Giese also reached out to Easterby Elementary School and included 80 hand-written letters from students in the package. Giese sent the giant package to Forward Operating Base Wright in Asadabad, Afghanistan.
The troops from FOB Wright responded by sending Giese a group photo and a flag that was flown over the base in Asadabad with a certificate of authenticity.
Giese said the company will display the flag and certificate with dignity for the troops.
