Farm of Future revives Ag Field Day

The Fresno BeeNovember 9, 2013

Farm of the Future will host Agriculture Field Day and Open House on Nov. 23 at West Hills College in Coalinga for the first time in 10 years.

The traditional event began in the 1950s, but West Hills College stopped holding the event after the farm was moved to a new facility.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and is open to the public. Check-in begins at 7 a.m.

There will be competitions for high school Future Farmers of America students on best-informed greenhand, land judging, welding and light horse judging. There is a $15 per-student fee for welding competitions, but all other competitions are free.

Tri-tip lunches are available for $5.

Registration is free and the deadline is Nov. 15. Register online at www.farm.westhillscollege.com. For more information or to volunteer, contact Farm of the Future at (559) 934-2700.
