Donations spark rebirth of music programs in Firebaugh schools

The Fresno BeeOctober 31, 2013

Firebaugh schools will celebrate the rebirth of music programs, and the donors who made it possible, at a celebration Tuesday at Arthur E. Mills Intermediate School.

Through a partnership with the VHI Save The Music Foundation, several Firebaugh schools have opened new keyboard labs and music programs have been restored throughout the district.

The event at 10 a.m. at 1191 P St. will celebrate the addition of keyboard labs and a $40,000 donation from Monster, Inc. to VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

In 2012, the intermediate school got a grant through the foundation and received a keyboard lab. This year a grant went to Hazel M. Bailey Primary School for a keyboard lab.

Greg Pedersen, brand and strategic alliance manager at Monster, Inc., will join Jaclyn Rudderow, program and communications manager for the VH1 foundation, Jim Yovino, superintendent of Fresno County Office of Education, and students at the event.

Pedersen will speak about the role of music in his life and in the company's development.
