The Bee reports that a big rig driver has been killed on I-5 near Cantua Creek (story Oct. 24), but in the last few weeks several drivers have died, one in Selma, one in Goshen and others, including the Bakersfield area. This should concern all of us.
The accidents in Selma and Goshen could have been worse if they had involved a car full of people or a school bus. The question is, how can we help prevent these things from happening? For one thing, both of these accidents happened in the morning and in construction areas and perhaps this had something to do with it. This is something for the public, Caltrans and the CHP to ponder as we get to the heavy fog season.
